Gene Simmons in Malibu Car Accident; Calls Self "Horrible Driver"
The KISS bassist and vocalist, Gene Simmons, has responded to reports concerning a vehicular mishap in Malibu, California. Simmons took to social media platform X on October 8 to reassure fans. "Appreciate all the concern," he posted. "I'm perfectly okay. Just a minor collision – these things happen, particularly when you're not the best behind the wheel. And that would be me. Everything is alright."
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, October 7, along the Pacific Coast Highway. Local news outlet NBC 4 Los Angeles stated that the 76-year-old musician's vehicle made contact with a stationary automobile. An individual at the location dialed emergency services, and deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene. Media sources have contacted LASD and Simmons' representatives for confirmation, but have not yet received statements.
Law enforcement officials informed NBC that Simmons was transported to a medical facility for assessment after the collision. According to authorities, Simmons explained to emergency responders that he had lost consciousness or blacked out prior to hitting the parked vehicle.
Shannon Tweed, Simmons' spouse, informed NBC that he is currently recuperating at their residence.
Earlier this year, Simmons launched a solo tour with his backing band, which included musicians Brent Woods, Jason Walker, and Brian Tichy.
"Look at my hand," he said during that interview. "No tremors, and I'm 75 years old. The message to young people is simple: avoid drugs, excessive alcohol consumption, and quit smoking."
